Universities Business Challenge (UBC)
The University of Southampton Business School is excited to announce that we are entering 3 teams of Undergraduate BSc students, with 5 students per team, into the Universities Business Challenge to compete against other leading universities, including the University of Liverpool, UCL and Sheffield.

The Undergraduate UBC competition is currently open to BSc students only.
Studying an MSc? Don’t worry – the MSc UBC competition launches in January 2027.
About the UBC
Running from October each year across two competitive rounds, the UBC gives you a unique opportunity to develop the skills and experience needed to succeed beyond university.
Whether you’re aiming for a career in a multinational, the public sector, a family business or your own venture, the UBC challenges you to make the strategic and operational decisions that create real value.
Through competitive teamwork, you’ll develop both personally and professionally while gaining valuable experience in a challenging, practical business simulation. You’ll also benefit from peer learning, collaboration and the opportunity to put your classroom knowledge into practice.

Application Instructions
Before You Apply
- You must not have previously participated in the UBC.
- You must upload a short video of yourself as part of your application. Further details will be provided in the application form.
- There are only 15 places available.
Selection Process
1. Application Submission
Complete the online application form and upload your video by 6 October 2026 – 12 Noon.
2. Shortlisting
Applications will be reviewed and shortlisted.
3. Team Selection Afternoon
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an assessment afternoon.
Date: Tuesday 13 October 2026
Time: 13:00 – 16:00
Activities will assess your teamwork, communication, presentation, creativity and numerical skills.
4. Final Selection
Successful applicants will be allocated to a UBC team.

Support
Each team will be allocated a mentor with business experience to provide support, guidance and advice throughout the competition.
Teams will organise most of their own meetings, with occasional sessions bringing all teams together. Business School staff will also be available to help with any questions or challenges along the way.
