Lloyd’s Register Global Technology Centre


The University of Southampton have created the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI) at their Boldrewood Campus. This is a Maritime Centre of Excellence (MCE), and aims to be a world-leading centre for innovation, business and education in maritime engineering sciences and other relevant maritime disciplines at the heart of the Solent Maritime Cluster. The development incorporates the Lloyd’s Register Global Technology Centre, the University Engineering Centre of Excellence and a new institute for Marine and Maritime Research. Lloyd’s Register are moving 400 members of it’s team to the new purpose built facility at Boldrewood, establishing a new Global Technology Centre. This will be the cornerstone of Lloyd’s Register global marine research and technology network. Wates Construction are designing and fitting-out the interior of Building 175. This building is being leased by the University to Lloyd’s Register, who will share the study and research area with the University. The development for the University of Southampton and Lloyd’s Register will bring together a world-leading centre of expertise in one of the largest research collaboration of its kind in the UK.
